Minas Zakarian
Minas Zakarian (born 1955) is a respected Armenian artist whose work balances classical training with the expressive freedom of modern painting. He studied at the Terlemezyan Art College in Yerevan from 1974 to 1978 and graduated from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre in 1985. Between 1979 and 1985, Zakarian also taught at the Arts and Theatre Institute in Yerevan, shaping a generation of emerging artists.
Deeply influenced by the artistic spirit of the 1970s, his paintings are characterized by semi-abstract backgrounds, bold color palettes, and a strong sense of atmosphere. Color becomes both structure and emotion in his work, creating compositions that feel timeless yet vibrant.
A well-established figure in his home country, Zakarian has held numerous sold-out exhibitions in Armenia and abroad, with solo shows in Yerevan, Moscow, Paris, Switzerland, Germany, London, San Francisco, and Barcelona. His work continues to resonate internationally, offering a powerful and lyrical dialogue between memory, color, and form.
